Following the deployment of serveral solutions outside the hyperscalers utilizing Open Source components and German data centers, we have consolidated our efforts and are pleased to present the MMI Cloud.

In doing so, we developed a solution we genuinely stand behind – a contemprary Open Source Cloud Platform that balances cost-effectiveness with authentic European data sovereignty.

Our Philosophy: Open Source by Design
Rather than confining clients to proprietary systems, our platform is founded on open standards and transparent technologies. Leveraging Kubernetes, open-source databases, and adaptable infrastructure configurations, we provide dependable and scalable cloud infrastructure – entirely hosted within German or European data centers.

Technical Details
To give you an overview of the components powering our custom cloud solution, here’s a look at the key technologies and concepts behind it.
Data Centers
Our infrastructure is hosted in European data centers operated by trusted European vendors, ensuring compliance with strict data protection regulations (GDPR) and high availability standards.
Kubernetes
At the core of our platform lies Kubernetes, providing powerful container orchestration, scalability and resilience. It enables us to efficiently manage workloads and ensure smooth, automated deployments across different environments.
Load Balancing
For traffic distribution and reliability, we use load balancers, ensuring consistent performance and availability for all running services.
API Gateway
Kong is a powerful and scalable API gateway that centralizes routing, security and traffic control to ensure reliable and efficient communication between services.
Keycloak
For identity and access management, we use Keycloak, providing secure authentication, single sign-on (SSO) and fine-grained access control across all our services.
Backups
Regular backups of the entire cloud environment are included by default. Backup frequency can be customized to meet specific recovery and compliance requirements.
Storage & Data Management
We support a wide range of databases, with a focus on high-availability PostgreSQL and Qdrant setups. Our ecosystem also could include other data storage solutions tailored to different use cases.
HashiCorp Vault
We leverage HashiCorp Vault for secure secret management. It enables us to safely store and manage sensitive information such as API keys, tokens and certificates – ensuring the highest level of data security within our environment.
RabbitMQ
Our system’s messaging backbone is powered by RabbitMQ, ensuring reliable and fast communication between microservices – an essential component for scalable and event-driven architectures.
Harbor
We use Harbor as our container registry, providing a secure, truste and compliant way to store and manage container images across all environments. Automated vulnerability scans help us maintain image integrity and security.
Administration & Monitoring Tools
We’ve developed several in-house administration and monitoring tools that continuously track, manage and maintain the underlying infrastructure. These tools ensure stability, transparency and rapid troubleshooting when needed.
GitLab, Helm & ArgoCD
Our CI/CD pipeline is built on GitLab, Helm charts and ArgoCD, enabling automated, reliable and traceable deployments. This setup supports a fast development cycle, helping us deliver new features with confidence and consistency.
Monitoring
For monitoring our clusters we are using OpenSouce components and a self developed User interface.
Enhanced Security Measures
We adopt a DevSecOps methodology that integrates security throughout every phase – from development environments and build pipelines to our API gateway and authorization processes. This approach allows us to implement best practices, identify vulnerabilities early, and consistently uphold and enhance a robust security posture.
